First archaeological game-jam
In 2022, the excavations at Etiolles are celebrating their 50-year anniversary!
For this occasion, the research team, led by Pr. Boris Valentin (Professor at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University), wishes to promote the results of their work in an original way, by organizing a game-jam — which is to say a hackathon aimed at producing video games. Its theme will be the scientific discoveries accumulated by the team during 50 years of excavations.
Such an event, organized around archaeological research will be the first of its kind in France, perhaps even on a wider scale. This type of event, although it has developed these past few years, has never yet been applied to scientific results from archaeological excavations. Particular attention will be drawn to the use of scientific questions and data, in order to create games that are fun, but also which conform to the reality of discoveries and of field work.
